I’m very excited to welcome you to the first post of the Unique Fabrics Blog. We look forward to keeping you up to date with all the Unique news and views (new collections etc) and the comings and goings of the textile world (trends from International Trade Fairs etc). I also hope that this blog is a way we can feature some of the wonderful interiors and furniture pieces our clients are creating using our products.
This season we’re pleased to release a number of beautiful collections. Most notable are from Andrew Martin, particularly Night & Day which features a stunning array of luxurious, Arte Deco inspired textiles. The lead design is Celeste a hand-painted silk, embellished with metallic embroidery and velvet applique.
Our own Unique Design Studio has released two collections in the last few weeks: Mambazo is our take on the emerging trend of ethnic/tribal inspired fabrics which features faithful recreations of African tribal cloths (Zoussa and Benoue). Mambazo also has a wonderful ‘antiqued’ Leather called Masai.
We have also released Mallorca a range of horizontal stripes in a strong, vibrant palette. These designs have a fun retro look and are sure to inject some strong colour into any room. The stripes are teamed with a black-out plain called Miro.
Finally I’d like to mention our new-look sampling. We have re-vamped our headers and books with a subtle metallic buckram which will stand-up to the knocks. In addition our hangers have been re-designed allowing you to opened and spread them out - a lot more user friendly.
Next post I will be reporting from Proposte in Como, until then, happy designing.
