Maison et Objet 2014Jan 30, 2014

We've just returned from an action-packed trip to Paris and Maison et Objet 2014. We had a fabulous time reconnecting with our suppliers and designers from Europe and beyond. We even managed to get caught up in a political riot with 70,000 protestors and very serious looking security forces!

As usual the show itself was vast, we must have walked kilometres absorbing all the sights and upcoming interior design trends.

This year there were two very distinct looks at Maison et Objet: Pared back, Scandinavian inspired designs with pale timber and fine silhouettes. The other look was all about opulence with large soft shapes, luxurious textures and metals, particularly brass and gold finishes.

Foundation colours were all neutral: grey, silver, white, taupe and black. Accent colours were bold: orange, hot pink and kelly green. Turquoise and acid yellow/green were still in the mix, continuing on from last year.

Every year Andrew Martin pulls out all the stops with their stand and this year was certainly no different. Here are some snaps of this year's effort...

As you can see they were definitely in the opulent camp! Gorgeous velvets, interesting curios and fantastic prints and patterns. They own this look!
